Another great weekend of NFL football action is a little more than 48 hours away. The Sports Observer Monthly has a full plate of action to take in this weekend. Along with a little preview of each of the four games Sports Observer Monthly will give a prediction on each of the games. Sat 2:30pm MST Arizona Cardinals v New Orleans Saints
A match of of two of the top QB's in the league Kurt Warner v Drew Brees. It's going to be a high scoring affair with both offenses marching up and down the field. One of the defensive groups will have to stand up at some point in the game and the first defense that does that will win the game for their team. Watch this one for some high scoring offensive action

Sat 6:15 pm MST Indianapolis Colts v Baltimore Ravens
In this game it's a match up of a stellar offense and a staunch defense. It's Peyton Manning v Ray Lewis. With a week layoff for the Colts they better hope that their timing is on because the Baltimore D will be all over the Colts receivers. On the Baltimore offensive side Joe Flacco and Ray Rice lead the Ravens. If the Colts are unable to stop Ray Rice and the ground game it's going to be a long evening for the Colts. Watch the match up between Peyton and the Ravens secondary and Ray Rice and the Colts run defense. The battle will be won between these groups.

Sun 11:00 am MST Minnesota Vikings v Dallas Cowboys
The old gun sling er Brett Farve versus the Young Kid Tony Romo. Brett Favre doesn't have the best record versus the Boys, he is 2 and 9 all time v the Cowboys. Dallas has been the hottest team of late winning their last four games. If the Vikings stud defensive end Jared Allen can get pressure against Tony Romo it will be a long day for the Dallas quarterback. If the Vikings offense can find that mid season form they will prevail on top. Look for that Jared Allen v Flozell Adams match up and Brett v the Cowboys D. Watch this one due to always the possibility of Brett Favre playing his last game in the NFL.

Sun 2:40 pm MST New York Jets v San Diego Chargers
The final course in a full meal of football action. This game may turn out to be the best game of the weekend. You have the young kid from USC Mark Sanchez taking on Phillip Rivers and the rest of the Chargers. This game will be won or lost on Sanchez's ability to limit the turnovers and keep the Jets in the game with smart play. If he goes out there and begins to throw the ball all over the field and turns it over the Jets are done. If he goes out and plays a smart game and with the stellar Jets defense most note ably Darell Revis the Jets will be one to the AFC Championship. Now the Chargers must force Sanchez to make those bad decision with constant pressure. If they can keep that pressure on and score a few points they will prevail and move on. Watch Sanchez and the turnovers and the Chargers pressure D.

Wild Card Weekend.
What a wild card weekend in the NFL! There were great games Saturday and Sunday. The best game by far was that game yesterday afternoon Cardinals v Packers. It was a wild west shootout with the Cardinals coming out on top with the defensive touchdown in overtime. Good games also with the Jets, Ravens, and Cowboys coming out on top.
Just a few observations in regards to the overall viewing of the weekend games.
Worst on TV moment: NBC showing G.W. Bush slapping hands with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones after the Cowboys scored a late touchdown to seal the game. Nice to see that GW still has that dumb ass look on his face that makes one think does that guy ever know what's going on.
Best on TV moment: Fox showing late in their coverage Ken Wisenhunt coach of the AZ Cardinals running around the stadium slapping hands with the fans. This shows that the Cardinals are out there playing for the fans.
Most Bored person of the weekend besides many wife's around the nation: Troy Aikman, he didn't really act like he wanted to be at the game yesterday. Every time they showed him on TV he looked like he just woke up from his afternoon nap. It's a playoff game Troy get in the game. Maybe he spent too much time on Mill St in Tempe AZ on Saturday night.
Most Excited person of the weekend: Mark Sanchez, after the game he was running around the field like a little kid. You could tell that he was excited to be in the NFL and leading a team to a playoff victory. Also in the post game interview room he had a permanent smile on his face, which my wife loved, and he showed what all players should be like in the NFL.
Those were just a few observations of the weekends games around the NFL.

College Football Review
Now that the college football season is in the books Sports Observer Monthly will give some final thoughts on all things college football.
First Mizzou still sucks!
Second Kansas had another disappointing season for all the KU alumni across the nation. The Jayhawks started out the season strong going 5 and 0 and getting all the way up to number 16 in the nation. Then a mid October trip to Colorado to face the Buffs derailed the Jayhawks season and cost the Big Man Mark Mangino his job. They limped across the finish line with a disappointing 5 and 7 record. No Bowl, No winning season, No more Mangino. After the debacle of last season KU decided to bring in a new coach Turner Gill from the University of Buffalo. Hopefully he can bring back some of the prestige to the program that was lost this season, and the main key to doing that is getting the Jayhawks ready to play the Big 12 South. If he doesn't KU fans will be left with that bad taste in their mouths after another disappointing season.
Third! What a game last night in the BCS Championship game presented by Citi. The top two teams in the country by ranking battling it out under the lights of the Rose Bowl. Texas showed a lot of fight after Colt McCoy was knocked out of the game on the second series of the game. The baby faced freshman came into the game like a scared deer on the first day of rifle season in Missouri. He looked like he was traveling in the slow lane on the freeway and the Alabama defense was in the fast lane blowing him away. Yet he stayed in there and fought and clawed the Longhorns back into the game. Still Alabama was the superior team last night with Saban on the sideline leading the team and the Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram leading the offense down the field for multiple scores. Overall it was a great team between two great teams.
Just a few side notes from last nights game. The worst quote of the night comes from our old friend Brent Musburger he stated "The freshman quarterback has some great genes since his Daddy played eight years in the NFL" What does this have to do with the kid playing quarterback? Yes his Dad may of played in the NFL but that didn't help hime one bit when the Alabama defense was flying around him like a pack of hornets. It's Sports Observer Monthly's take that Musburger needs to hand up the mic. He has been a great announcer over the years but it's time to find a better play by play man to put with the wonder boy Kirk Herbstriet. Second has anyone ever seen a coach as mad getting dumped with Gatorade in the history of sports as Nick Saban was last night. He didn't like it one bit he was doused with the red gatorade, he didn't crack a smile, laugh, or even say anything. He was probably mad since his hair and nice white shirt got messed up. At least after the clock said 0:00 he showed a little emotion after such a big win for the program.
As the college football season closes a new chapter begins in the the lives of all of us who watch sports on TV the NFL Playoffs. It's wild card weekend and you can bet your bottom dollar that the Sports Observer Monthly staff will be taking in all four games this weekend. Look for new posts soon about this weekends action.
